Designing an Efficient, Scalable CV Search Experience for Wuzzuf Employers

Wuzzuf is a leading employment and recruitment platform across Egypt and the MENA region, connecting employers with job seekers and enabling talent discovery at scale. In this project, I redesigned the employer CV search and discovery experience — the core workflow for recruiters to explore, filter, and find qualified candidates from a large and diverse pool of professional profiles. My Role | UX Designer (Individual contribution within a core product team) I led the redesign of CV search flows, interaction patterns, and results experiences, collaborating with product management, data engineering, and algorithm teams to ensure search performance, relevancy, and usability.

Wuzzuf’s employer dashboard supports recruiters in searching for and evaluating candidate profiles, yet legacy CV search functionality was limited in flexibility, filtering power, and interaction clarity.

Employers struggled with:

  • Inefficient search and filtering across millions of CVs

  • Difficulty discovering relevant candidates quickly

  • Weak preview and actionability within results

  • A workflow that didn’t reflect hiring priorities

These issues created friction in the most business-critical workflow for hiring teams.

The Challenge

Design a CV search system that:

  • Scales to millions of candidate profiles

  • Supports precision and exploratory discovery

  • Rewards relevance without overwhelming users

  • Provides clear actions and insights from results

The previous search lacked depth in filtering and interaction clarity, making it hard to find the right match for open positions.

What we did?

I designed a modern CV search experience that empowers recruiters to quickly narrow down talent and take action.

The redesign included:

  • A unified, prominent search bar supporting keywords and smart suggestions

  • A flexible filter system allowing multi-dimensional segmentation (skills, experience, location, education, recency, etc.)

  • Preview-rich search results with clear candidate highlights

  • Actions directly from results (shortlist, message, bookmark)

  • Improved pagination and infinite scroll for efficiency

  • Contextual insights based on hiring patterns and demand trends

Together, these changes reduced cognitive load, increased search precision, and enabled recruiters to move rapidly from search → shortlist → engage.

Outcome

  • Enhanced recruiter productivity by reducing time to shortlist relevant candidates

  • Improved engagement with talent search tools across high-volume hiring cycles

  • Positioned Wuzzuf as a stronger platform for employer success in competitive talent markets

(Impact statements are qualitative given platform nature.)
